Robert C. Ramsay, MD
Following medical school at the University of Manitoba (1968, MD, BSc(Med)), internship, ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota (1969-1973, MS), retinal disease and surgery fellowship Dr Ramsay joined the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Minnesota where he remained until 1988. During his tenure at the University Dr Ramsay was PI/Co-PI for multiple individual NIH grants and national clinical trials in diabetic retinopathy, complex retinal detachment, macular degeneration and retinopathy of prematurity. He achieved the academic rank of Professor (currently Adjunct Professor). Together with Dr William Knobloch and Dr Herbert Cantrill a nationally recognized Retina Service was developed. Dr Ramsay entered private practice in 1988 and in joined with Dr Cantrill to form Retina Consultants of Minnesota in 1989. Dr Ramsay’s spouse, Norma K Ramsay MD, is Emeritus Professor, Department of Pediatrics, University of Minnesota. In retirement, Dr Ramsay spends as much time as possible with their two grandchildren.
